You might not be old enough to know who Maurice Chevalier was, but you have probably heard the song that he made famous. It's called "Thank Heaven For Little Girls." That is especially true when thinking about clothing. Of course, there are great clothes for little boys, but you probably don't want them to wear frills and other things that make little girls look like princesses. Thank heaven for little girls and thank heaven for the people who design the clothes they wear.

Maybe you are wanting this summer's wardrobe to be extra special for your little princess. If so, from shopping at a boutique that focuses on children's clothing to hitting a shoe shop, here are some ideas that might help you.

Girls' Boutique Clothing - It's true that you can get great outfits at department stores or at "big box" stores. However, if you do that, don't be surprised when your little girl's friends are wearing the same outfits that your little girl is wearing.

Consider shopping at a boutique that carries children's clothing. There, you will find unique outfits that you probably won't see on other little girls. Focus on things your little girl will really wear. For example, you might see an amazing dress that is designed for elegant affairs. That would be a good choice if you know you'll be attending something like a wedding. However, it will not be a good investment if your little girl won't be able to wear it, no matter how darling it is. Plus, she'll likely outgrow it by next summer, so don't count on buying it for later use.

However, buying less elegant little dresses will be perfect for going to church on Sundays and for going to fancy birthday parties. Think of buying things you can mix and match, too. For instance, a pair of candy apple red capris could be worn with a red, white, and blue T-shirt. You could also pair it with a halter top for fun-in-the-sun days.

Check Out The Accessories - Buy accessories at the girls' boutique, too. For instance, brimmed hats might be both adorable and helpful on days when your little girl will be spending time outdoors. A pair of sunglasses would be the perfect touch for a swimsuit you buy at the boutique. Choose fun jewelry to go with the outfits you select, too. For example, red, white, and blue plastic bangle bracelets will be perfect with the red, white, and blue ensemble you selected.

Hit The Shoe Department - The girls' boutique might carry shoes, too. Whether you purchase shoes there or in the kids' area of a shoe store, consider focusing on three types of shoes. You should get dressy ones to go with the dressy outfits you selected, little athletic shoes for play dates, and sandals that she'll probably wear for many different occasions.
